Dental Crowns and Bridges

Do you have damaged or missing teeth? Don’t worry! At Barrhaven Dental Studio in Barrhaven, ON, we offer dental bridges and crowns to restore your smile’s functionality and beauty. Our skilled dental team can provide high-quality restorative treatments using porcelain or ceramic materials that blend perfectly with your natural teeth.

Dental crowns are fixed caps that are placed over damaged or decayed teeth. We recommend crowns when a tooth is too damaged to be treated with bonding or composite fillings or to restore a tooth after root canal therapy or a dental implant.

If a tooth is missing, a dental bridge is a great option. Dental bridges are crowns that span the gap a missing tooth leaves. Our dental team will take impressions of the area to ensure a comfortable and seamless fit. Experienced technicians at our partner dental lab will then handcraft your restoration.

  • What is a dental crown?

Dental crowns are a dental device that is used in various situations. They are typically used when a tooth has an extensive filling that exceeds the natural tooth structure or has undergone root canal therapy. Additionally, they can be used for cosmetic reasons.

The main application of dental crowns is to cover a damaged tooth, which restores the tooth’s natural structure so it can be used commonly. Dental crowns can also be attached to dental implants to replace missing teeth. Dental implants are surgically inserted into the jawbone and serve as the tooth’s root. This procedure keeps the dental crown steady and secure.

Dental crowns can also provide additional support for dental bridges and can be maintained through regular brushing and flossing.

  • What is a dental bridge?

Dental bridges are often used to replace one or more missing teeth. They are called bridges because they span the gap created by the absence of teeth. Dental bridges can be secured using abutment crowns on each end or permanently installed precision metal mechanisms. At Barrhaven Dental Studio, we design each component of a dental bridge to fit the patient’s unique needs, ensuring a natural look and optimal performance.

  • How do temporary dental crowns work?

To create a permanent dental crown that accurately fits your teeth, your dentist must shape the tooth base underneath it. However, this process could leave your tooth vulnerable between the impression creation and the crown’s delivery. In the meantime, your dentist will provide a temporary dental crown to protect your tooth.

During your fitting appointment, the dentist will replace the temporary crown with a permanent one or bridge.
